Puppy walkers are volunteers who take care of guide dog candidate puppies at home for about 10 months from the age of 2 months. The puppies learn to feel safe living with people and the rules of human society through living at home and interacting with various people.
The most important thing in raising a guide dog puppy is to practice accepting various stimuli that may occur in human society (socialization) from a young age, so that they can respond to stimuli correctly when they become a guide dog in the future.
Specifically, taking these puppies to places with various noises, such as downtown areas, construction sites, railroad crossings, etc., showing puppies unfamiliar objects such as vacuum cleaners, strollers, umbrellas, etc., and exposing puppies to people of various ages are also good socialization opportunities.
It is essential to carefully observe the puppies and allow each dog to experience acceptance at its own pace.
The four puppies entrusted to the volunteers on this day will grow together with their puppy walkers, and we are sure their hearts and bodies will grow in harmony with their puppy walkers.
We hope they will grow up healthy and happy while having a good time every day!
