Sendai Training Center
Established in 1996, the Sendai Training Center carries the distinction of being the sole guide dog training facility in the Tohoku region. Nestled in vast natural surroundings yet only 20 minutes by car from bustling Sendai Station, the center uniquely blends serenity with urban access. This perfect setting allows us to train in vibrant city life using public transportation, from buses to trains.

Far more than just a guide dog training hub, the Sendai Training Center is a powerhouse of rehabilitation for the vision-impaired. It plays a pivotal role in equipping individuals with crucial skills like long-cane mobility, Braille literacy, and activities of daily living. Serving Tohoku and Niigata, we are dedicated to elevating the quality of life for those with vision challenges.

- Railroad Workshops:Hands-on, on-site practical lessons for train users to flawlessly navigate ticket machines, hop onto trains, and ensure safety.
- Short-term Rehabilitation:A tailored, one-week immersion where participants master the long-cane, get tech-savvy with computers, cook with confidence, and delve into Braille.
- Summer Camp:A vibrant summer school experience for vision-impaired children and their families. Over three days and two nights, young participants embark on a journey of self-discovery and empowerment through everyday and novel experiences.

In the wake of the Great East Japan Earthquake in March 2011, our center stepped up as the Miyagi Branch of the Great East Japan Earthquake Support Task Force for the vision-impaired. Our dedicated team centered information as well as delivering essential tools such as audio clocks, magnifier, and image magnification systems to vision-impaired victims, reaching out to individuals including guide dog users. This effort is still ongoing. Additionally, our 'School Caravan,' a guide dog educational tour, continues to bring hope and mental care to children in these regions. Today, we are pioneers in fostering understanding. Our 'guide dog acceptance seminar' at supermarkets, hotels, and companies facilitates encouraging populations. We work closely with leading brave service providers about the true potential and needs of guide dogs.
