Do you know how many guide dogs are currently active in Japan?
As of 31 March 2025, 768 guide dogs are in service.
Fuji Harness is challenging visitors to create a total of 768 guide dog origami figures during the year 2026 , with the aim of raising awareness of guide dogs and showing our support for both the dogs and their users.
With visitors’ cooperation this initiative began during the May 2026 Japanese “Golden Week” holiday period, and after this summer holiday, we have now reached a total of 602 figures.

Most of the participants in the origami project are children. We would be delighted if the children, who will shape the future, could feel a closer connection to guide dogs and offer their support for guide dogs
During this summer holiday period, Fuji Harness has been creating opportunities for people to learn about guide dogs, such as supporting children work on summer school projects related to guide dogs and holding demonstrations featuring puppy walkers and guide dog users.
We will continue to devise various initiatives to ensure our visitors gain a proper understanding of guide dogs. Please do come and visit us when you are in the area!
